Scalextric Attraction Installation
Client: Silverstone Museum
Location: Silverstone Circuit, Towcester, Northamptonshire, UK
Project Value: Experiential & Exhibition Fit-Out Tier
Timeline: March 2023
Project Overview
Westminster Project Services provided full end-to-end programme leadership and client coordination to deliver the new Scalextric 'On Track' exhibition at the Silverstone Museum. Acting as the central project management hub, our team managed the integration of interactive digital assets, high-traffic spatial layouts, and specialised contractors—including Sapphire Signs—to transform a raw gallery space into a fully operational, premium heritage and play zone. The project required rigorous oversight of tight museum launch windows, stakeholder relations, and high-spec public safety standards.
Scope of Work
-
Phase 1: Concept Development & Spatial Planning
Translated the initial creative design concepts for the interactive slot-car track and driver timelines into actionable, highly detailed operational plans. Our team managed site mapping and space layout approvals, optimising visitor flow through a complex room geometry featuring viewing apertures, structural pillars, and multi-angle wall surfaces. -
Phase 2: Supply Chain Coordination & Procurement
Led the procurement, vendor management, and technical vetting of specialised asset manufacturing. We oversaw the design engineering of large-scale Easitex25 soft-image tension fabric systems spanning walls up to 9.6 metres, alongside heavy-duty, floor-laminated graphic track vinyls extending over 10.4 metres. -
Phase 3: Infrastructure Integration & Technical Setup
Coordinated the synchronisation of foundational utilities, architectural fit-outs, and interactive educational displays. We managed the site preparation work streams to seamlessly install massive graphic backdrops around viewing bays and structural voids, ensuring the model track layout fit flawlessly with the architectural blueprint. -
Phase 4: Live Project Delivery & Fit-Out Operations
Directed all live on-site logistics, contractor scheduling, and health and safety monitoring during the physical installation phase. By maintaining real-time communication between the client, site teams, and graphic specialists, Westminster Project Services ensured zero operational friction and a snag-free handover.
Results & Impact
-
Commercial Growth & Visitor Engagement
Our management successfully delivered a highly interactive, premium feature attraction that significantly boosted Silverstone Museum's seasonal visitor footprint. The seamlessly executed environment enhanced dwell time, family engagement, and high-value brand placement for museum partners. -
Regulatory Standards & Museum Safety Compliance
Maintained exemplary quality and compliance benchmarks across all physical elements. Our team ensured that all high-footfall floor graphics utilised certified anti-slip, scuff-resistant materials, and all expansive wall textiles complied strictly with indoor public exhibition fire safety standards. -
Operational Excellence
Demonstrated robust management by delivering a multi-vendor, technically complex fit-out completely on schedule and within budget. By taking a proactive approach to coordination, we successfully eliminated the risk of misaligned dimensions or structural clashes across multi-metre wall wraps, resulting in total client satisfaction.
